About this piece

Vintage Persian Heriz rug, circa 1970s, featuring the region’s characteristic bold geometric medallion design. The large central medallion is rendered in warm brick red and terracotta tones, surrounded by an ivory field filled with angular floral and foliate motifs in deep navy blue, muted blue, burgundy, and soft rose. A dark navy floral border frames the composition and gives the rug strong architectural definition. Hand-knotted in Iran with a wool pile, the rug displays the robust construction and graphic character associated with Heriz weaving. The close-up and reverse views show hand-knotted construction and traditional finishing, including fringed ends.
