About this piece

A richly detailed vintage Persian Bidjar rug, handwoven in Iran in wool. The design features a distinctive pale ivory-blue central medallion set within a large rust-red diamond-shaped field, surrounded by deep navy corner sections and an elaborate multi-band floral border. The field is densely patterned with the small-scale repeating floral and geometric motifs associated with Bidjar weaving, creating an exceptionally intricate surface. The palette combines rust red, brick red, deep navy blue, ivory, pale blue, soft pink, camel, olive, and touches of brown,. The rug bears a woven signature within the border, an especially noteworthy detail that adds to its character and identifies it as a signed Persian weaving.
